MILL HALL -- Mifflin County made the trip up to Malinak Stadium to take on Central Mountain for Friday night football action. The Huskies won the season opener, 28-19. Mifflin County found themselves ahead at the half, 14-6, largely because of the big running plays from Jaxon Strohecker and Zyhair Hill with Strohecker leading the way with 64 yards while Hill ran with success totaling 42 yards. Babe Ruth: Shaffer, Shawver gain All-Star Awards

LEWISTOWN — Two Mifflin County players were named to the all-tournament teams at the recent Babe Ruth 15-16-year-old World Series in Branson, Missouri. Liam Shaffer was named as an outfielder on the All-Defensive team and Luke Shawver was named as a catcher to the All-Tournament team. The two players were the 24th and 25th players from Mifflin County to win awards at a World Series. Shaffer played third base, right field and pitched in the tournament.
