Smith wins state indoor title in 800
UNIVERSITY PARK — Four of our Mifflin County Huskies competed Sunday at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor State Championship Meet, held at Penn State University.
“They had a very successful meet, earning medals in every event they ran,” Mifflin County head coach Tamara Sechler said.
Carter Smith and Wyatt Kauffman started the day for the Huskies in the 800. Carter finished his high school career in indoor track by defending the state title and setting the meet record in a time of 1:50.25. Wyatt Kauffman joined Carter on the podium, running 1:56.28 to place seventh. Reese Cubbison then took the track in the 3000, winning a fourth place finish in 8:26.35. He also set a personal record and new school record.
The Huskies had a quick turn-around to complete the day with the DMR. Reese, Connor Lynch, Wyatt and Carter raced their way to a third place finish in a time of 10:31.26. “It was a fantastic way to end the indoor season,” Sechler added.
