LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County track and field season opened against CD East and Chambersburg during a double-dual meet on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at Marcal Paper Field.

Both Husky teams split, falling to Chambersburg and winning against CD East.

Mifflin County won the boys 4×800 meters over CD East with a time of 8:27.40. Reece Bell won in the javelin (162’1″).

“We’re very proud of how the season started. The hard work over the indoor season allowed many athletes to start out with good marks. In particular, Taylor Kenepp won both the 400m and 200m dash,” Huskies coach Tamara Sechler noted.

“Our team is fortunate to have many new athletes this season. One of them, Dekker Pietzsch, started the season remarkably well. He threw a school record mark in the shot put event with a measure of 47′ 4.5″.”

The Huskies will look to the Tim Cook Invitational in Chambersburg on Saturday for their next action on the track.
