ALTOONA — Four Mifflin County wrestlers are moving on, and one of them left Altoona with another gold medal.
Andrew “Goo” Alexander claimed his second District 6 Class 3A title, his first at 114 pounds, while Bentley Felmlee at 133, Jake Knable at 139 and Brayan Aurand at 172 each finished third to secure spots in the West Regional Friday and Saturday at Canon-McMillan High School.
Alexander (27-4) set the tone early. After receiving a quarterfinal bye, he moved through the semifinals on a forfeit and then controlled the championship bout against Landon Krupka of Hollidaysburg. Alexander scored a takedown in the first period, added an escape in the second and broke the match open in the third with two four-point nearfalls on the way to a 12-0 major decision and the district title.
“This year’s title is different than last year’s because I only had one match this year, so I never really had a match to get myself moving. I had to stay locked in mentally and keep myself moving because I knew Krupka was coming for me, and he had two matches before wrestling me,” Alexander said.
The Husky junior and Bloomsburg commit was confident in his ability on top during his finals match.
“My finals match was intense, but I kept dominating in every position. I knew he was coming with that wicked dump, so I released the pressure when he went for it,” Alexander said. “The thoughts that were going through my mind consisted of, “don’t stop moving” and “Keep attacking.” As soon as I got that first takedown, I knew I could get him turned. The kid is a stud, but I knew my capabilities, and I knew my top was too much for him to handle.”
Behind him, three teammates fought through the consolation bracket to extend their seasons.
Felmlee (18-12), just a freshman, opened with a first-period fall over Johnstown’s Damarion Williams in 1:42, then dropped a 5-4 semifinal decision to Central Mountain’s Patrick Tarantella. He rebounded by pinning Bellefonte’s Jacob Horn in 54 seconds in the consolation semifinals before earning third place with a 9-0 major decision over Jon Whitbred of State College.
Knable (29-11) pinned Isiah Burkett of Johnstown in 44 seconds in the quarterfinals before falling 2-1 to Central Mountain’s Hayes Donley in the semifinals. He answered with a 16-0 technical fall over Caleb Detrick of Hollidaysburg in 4:20 and secured third place with an 8-1 decision against Altoona’s Brandt Hite.
Aurand (24-12) earned a 7-2 quarterfinal decision over Tykear Davis of Altoona, then dropped a semifinal match to State College’s Teag Sanderson by 21-5 technical fall in 3:26. He recovered with a 1:20 pin of Blake Kennedy of Hollidaysburg in the consolation semifinals and defeated Davis again, 4-0, in the third-place bout.
At 127 pounds, Reece Fisher opened with a 1:45 fall over Bernard Bellinger of Johnstown before being pinned by Altoona’s Deklan Barr in the semifinals. Fisher reached the third-place bout but was pinned by Central Mountain’s Gavin Heverly in 1:19, finishing fourth, and one win shy of advancing to regionals.
Brian Albert at 160 won an 8-4 decision over Doc Reviglio of State College in the quarterfinals and later defeated Tyler Rodgers of Hollidaysburg, 4-2, in consolation action. Albert advanced to the third-place match, where he was pinned by Bellefonte’s Quinn Park in 1:45, ending his tournament one win away from a regional berth.
At 189, Reese Christine pinned Caleb Darpino of Altoona in 58 seconds in the quarterfinals before dropping an 8-2 decision to Noah Williams of State College. He added an 11-8 consolation decision over Tanner McCall of Central Mountain. Christine reached the third-place bout before dropping a 7-3 decision to Hollidaysburg’s Keegan Hewitt, also finishing one match short of regionals.
Rocky Johnson at 107, Colton Leister at 121, Paxton Shawver at 145, Tyler Williams at 152, Dodger Weaver at 215 and Dekker Pietzsch at 285 competed through their respective brackets and consolation rounds but didn’t advance.
Central Mountain won the team title with 180 points, followed by Altoona with 175, Bellefonte with 168 and State College with 148. Mifflin County finished fifth with 106.5 points.

Madison Bryner captured the 118-pound championship, recording three pins and a technical fall before pinning Clearfield’s Finley Gilbert in 3:31 in the finals. Bryner is now 26-3 on the season with 23 falls.
Jordana Steffen placed third at 136 pounds, earning pins over Liberty Lane of Southern Huntingdon, Addison Hill of United, Brooke Santoro of Johnsonburg and Bethany Watt of Penn Cambria in the third-place bout.
At 124, Rylee Delancey worked through the consolation bracket with pins over Tatum Khamis-Weir of Brockway, Sarah Lavallee of Central Mountain and Kyanna Hall of Northern Bedford before being pinned by DuBois’ Bryanna Wilmoth in 56 seconds in the third-place match, finishing one win away from advancement.
