LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County (8-6) welcomed in the winless Red Land Patriots for a Mid-Penn Conference showdown on Alicia Bray night with the Lady Huskies coming away with a dominant 65-38 win.

Mifflin County was led by strong three-point shooting from senior Payton Weaver as she was 4-6 from the three-point line in the Huskies’ Friday evening win. Mifflin County also got production from Leah Reed as she started the Huskies scoring with a pair of points, giving the Huskies an early 2-0 advantage and Reed would go on to score 13 points on the night. Mackenzie Peachey would also have 13.

Lady Huskies head coach Crystal Weaver said, “We were a different team offensively tonight. I’ve been trying to get to my girls that one person isn’t going to make a team all five girls have to work together. We moved the ball well tonight and that’s why we were able to get those open shots tonight. I thought Leah played really well tonight. She went to those boards and she was finishing more and to get her out of a stump was huge for us tonight as far as Payton stepping up that’s just what good teams do.”

Red Land made the shots but fell short. The Lady Patriots knocked down six triples in the loss as sophomore Kaitlynn Fuller was perfect from the three-point line, going 3-for-3. She would total 11 points on the night and she would lead the Patriots in scoring. Lyvia Snyder would have eight points and would foul out in the third quarter with 10.1 seconds left.

Mifflin County’s Jayda Kanagy, despite having nine points, was held in check from the three-point line as she would end the night going 1-for-9 from three-point range despite that Weaver would account for four of the five threes in the ballgame to dispatch the Lady Patriots.

Mifflin County’s Payton Weaver said, “I think we just have to continue to shoot well and be confident and get downhill and finish at the basket. I think if we do that, we will be good.”

It will be a quick turnaround for the Lady Huskies as they will be back in action on Saturday to take on River Valley for a road contest.

Mifflin County’s JV team beat Red Land, 44-34. Lily Curry led in scoring with 10 points. Regan Kenepp had seven.
