MC too much for Mifflinburg in Classic rout

MIFFLINBURG — The Mifflin County Huskies improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominant 79-60 win over host Mifflinburg to clinch a second-straight Wildcat Winter Classic championship on Saturday.

The Huskies had four players reach double figures, led by Jack Curry’s 23 points. Luke Bender pumped in 13 points for Mifflin County, while Josh Hartzler had 11 points, Zach Keller added 10.

Keller scored eight of his 10 points in the opening frame for Mifflin County. Hartzler had eight points and Curry added five in the second quarter as the Huskies built a 30-24 lead at the half.

Mifflin County used a 29-13 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Wildcats. Curry hit for 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while Bender had six points and Hartzler three more.

Bryce Hartsock had five points for the Huskies in the fourth quarter, while Curry and Bender each added four points to set the final score.

In the JV game, the Huskies also picked up a win over Mifflinburg, 65-55. Dylan Bonson paced the Huskies with 18 points, while Carson Cherry had 15 points, Evan Breon added 13 points and Luke Warfel 11.

Mifflin County opens up Mid Penn Conference play when they travel to Milton Hershey on Wednesday.
