DUBOIS — No. 3 Mifflin County hit the road for a District 6 Class 5A semifinal matchup with No. 2 DuBois in football action on Friday night at E.J. Mansell Stadium.

DuBois got rolling quickly en route to a 48-21 win and eliminated the Huskies.

DuBois got out to a fast start by firing on all cylinders where the Beavers were certainly hitting their strides. Beaver Jaxson Hanzely had 97 receiving yards in the first half in an offensive outburst as the Beavers led the Huskies, 28-7, at the half.

Mifflin County couldn’t get much going on offense as the only score came off a three-yard score from Brandon Kauffman on a running play. Kauffman had 14 yards in the first half while Dodger Weaver had 58 yards receiving.

Mifflin County’s run production got a little better as the game went on but they were still limited offensively. Mifflin County’s other scoring drive would result in a 25-yard field goal from Joel Beamer to cut into the deficit, 34-14.

Mifflin County would be gifted by the Beavers’ costly penalties that would eventually result in the Huskies turning them into points on a six-yard score from Hartung to Kyson Russler.

DuBois would respond quickly as London Duncan would go the distance for a 44-yard score. Duncan would have a 100-yard game versus the Huskies.

Hanzely was at his best as he would pick off Hartung’s pass and would take it the distance for a 102-yard score on the pick-six. Hanzely would have 200 total yards between offense and defense in the Beavers’ win.

DuBois coach TJ Wingard said, “It’s about confidence and fixing your mistakes, learning from what worked well and what didn’t. And we have to keep studying film study on Hollidaysburg and execute better this time.”

DuBois lost to Hollidaysburg in Week 10.

Beaver Jaxson Hanzely discussed the district win, “Mainly, it’s just we want it and we want to keep going. So I feed off my team’s energy. So, we are going to keep it going from here.”

The Huskies end their season at 6-5. DuBois is now 7-4.

Huskies coach Shane Breon said, “Our goal is to make the playoffs every year. This offseason we have to get bigger and stronger. They got out to a big lead today and they were the better team today. I’m proud of the way our kids played this season.”

DuBois meets Hollidaysburg (11-0) next Friday for the District Championship.
