LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County girls soccer welcomed Altoona for their regular-season finale for a game that started just a little after 8 p.m. on a brisk night at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium on Wednesday.

Altoona (13-2-2) had the early advantage with 18 shots on goal in the first half where they had really good looks on goal and converted a shot into a goal off the foot of Ajaycia Alexander. She would have two of the three Mountain Lions’ goals in the 3-0 shutout win over the Huskies (5-12).

Altoona’s other score would come off the foot of Sophia Odea in a game where the Mountain Lions would prevail in a 34-shots-on-goal performance but could only come away with three points in part of Mifflin County’s LIberty Cook effort to only let three tough shots come out of her reach.

Huskies coach Barrett Knepp said, “We are a young team so that’s a good thing. I thought there was a point in the middle of the first half where we actually put pressure on them and did some good things. But we were just a few and far between and tried to do anything offensively honestly so we got to clean those things up and get some more push next year.”

Mifflin County did come close to scoring twice on an Abigail Anderson missed opportunity and a close goal from Emma Herwig. But, the Mountain Lions would hang tough and hold their own to avoid any goals to come across to steal a win from the home team.

Seniors Lorynn Knepp and Mackenzie Peachey played their last soccer game at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium.

Starting at $2.99/week.
