HALIFAX — Juniata football was hunting its sixth win of the year as they traveled to Halifax on Friday night. However, the Wildcats roared to a 32-7 win and their first victory against the Indians since 2018, snapping a six-game skid against their Mid-Penn foe.

Jasper Shepps scampered into the endzone on a four-yard rushing touchdown to give Juniata a 6-0 lead to open Week 9. Andel Lopez tacked on the point after, leaving it 7-0 Indians in front with about five minutes to go in the first period.

Halifax posted a rushing touchdown under a minute left in the opening stanza, making it 7-7.

From there, the Wildcats added a passing score with roughly six minutes left in the opening half (missed PAT). And the home team recorded a rushing touchdown with under a minute to go in the half. The two-point try was no good.

The Wildcats would score 25 unanswered points as they posted another rushing TD with about seven minutes left in the third quarter. The two-pointer was not successful.

Juniata (5-4, 4-3 Mid-Penn Capital) meets Upper Dauphin in Week 10. Halifax (6-3, 6-2 Mid-Penn Capital) goes to Boiling Springs next week.

Indians win TVL championship over Wildcats

DUNCANNON — Juniata scored three goals in the first half en route to a 6-3 win in the TVL championship game on Thursday night against Halifax with the contest held at Susquenita.

For Juniata, Anthony Maradiaga posted four goals. Daniel Lopez and Ricky Guante each added a score.

Lopez tallied three assists for the Indians.

Juniata goalie Nolan Imes collected nine saves.

Juniata limited Halifax to one score in the second half.

Halifax outshot Juniata, 17-11. Juniata had more corners, 9-7.

The Indians are now 16-3-2. Halifax is now 12-6-1.

No. 1 Juniata battles No. 8 Penn Cambria at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday during the District 6 Class 2A quarterfinals. The contest is at Mifflin County.
