Wildcats dodge Huskies, 2-0
MIFFLINBURG — The Mifflin County field hockey team traveled to Mifflinburg Friday night. The Wildcats brought home the win, 2-0, as the Huskies struggled on the grass.
Early in the first quarter, the Wildcats earned a stroke and were successful at getting the goal. Also in the same quarter, a Wildcat ball made its way into the back of the cage to bring the score to a 2-0.
The next three quarters were scoreless and were back and forth for the penalty corners. The Huskies had nine offensive penalty corners but only gave the Wildcats two shots on goal. The Wildcats had seven offensive penalty corners but the Huskies defense denied any chance of scoring during the play. Allison Renninger earned herself another defensive save for the season as she stopped a Wildcat ball from crossing the goal line.
The Huskies’ JV team also lost, 2-0.

VOLLEYBALL
Trojans stymie Huskies, 3-1
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County volleyball hosted Hershey during Thursday’s Gold Out game.
The varsity Huskies fell in four sets (14-25, 21-25, 26-24, and 16-25). Kate Hartzler and Ella Hartzler led the Huskies offensively with eight and seven kills, respectively.
Adisyn Lyles had nine assists, three kills, six digs and an ace in the effort while Lily Curry chipped in five assists, eight digs and two aces.
Defensively, the Huskies were led by Emily Porch with a team-high 15 digs to go along with her four aces. Rylie Kahley also put in a solid defensive effort by adding 12 digs.
The JV Huskies battled hard but came up short, losing in three sets (13-25, 25-23, and 13-15). Jovi Bush led the Huskies with four kills and nine digs. Briah Moore had a team-high 11 digs along with a strong serve receive effort. Ashland Mazur added two aces.
The Huskies will be on the road next week, traveling to Mount Union on Monday.
Juniata sweeps Indians, 3-0
MILLERSBURG — Juniata beat Millersburg on Thursday night, 25-20, 25-23, 25-15.
Maddie Copeland had 21 assists and nine points for the winners.
Hannah Graybill added a dozen kills. Miley Hack posted 11 digs.
Next, Juniata battles Sugar Valley on Saturday.

Lions freeze Columbia, 9-0
BLOOMSBURG — Troy Hoover and Julian Flores de Valgaz each tallied three goals as Juniata Christian beat Columbia County Christian on Thursday, 9-0.
JCS (6-3) plays on Monday and will face Grace Prep.
