Macri to miss about a month
King’s Royal Champion Anthony Macri will be sidelined for about a
month as he recovers from a compression fracture of his T4 vertebrae.
Macri, of Dillsburg, suffered the injury at Eldora Speedway New
Weston, Ohio, last weekend. He was racing second when he jumped the
cushion, hit the third turn wall and flipped into the catch fence.
When his car landed back on the track, it was struck by Parker
Price-Miller’s car.
This will keep him out of action for this weekend’s High Limit Racing
Series events at Bridgeport (N.J.) Motorsports Park, and Path Valley
Speedway, Spring Run. It also means Macri will miss next weekend’s
Williams Grove National Open.
Aaron Reutzel and Tyler Courtney were among several drivers injured in
nasty crashes at Eldora during King’s Royal week back in July.
Courtney continues to recover, while Reutzel is back behind the wheel
and winning races even with a broken right foot. Macri escaped the
carnage in July, but not last weekend. The KIng’s Royal win was the
biggest of Macri’s career.
Selinsgrove Speedway has cancelled its Friday night racing program due
to an electrical issue, which began Friday night during the racing
program. It affected some concession stands, VIP suites, and the
track’s timing and scoring. Speedway officials were told it would be
an extensive repair and not completed by Friday. The track has one
show remaining on its schedule. The rescheduled Kramer Cup for the 410
and 360 sprint cars is set for Friday night, Oct. 10.
With the cancellation, the point standings are final at Selinsgrove.
York’s Rick Eckert is the late model champion, Kreamer’s Kruz Kepner
is the 305 sprint car champion, and Port Royal’s Lane Snook the
limited late model champion.
Williams Grove is in action Friday night with 410 and 358 sprints for
the final regular Friday night race of the season before next
weekend’s National Open
Freddie Rahmer’s win last Friday night has closed up the point
standings. Troy Wagaman Jr. leads by 205. Rahmer has four Grove track
championships. It would be Wagaman’s first, but fourth for car owner
Mike Heffner.
Lincoln Speedway hosts the sprint cars Saturday night and Path Valley
has the High Limit Sprint Car Series Sunday night.
