Juniata Christian moved to 7-3 on the year with a 4-2 boys soccer win over Grace Prep on Monday.

Julian Flores de Valgaz scored twice in the victory.

Noah Stong and Troy Hoover each posted one score.

Prep outshot JCS, 22-19.

Next, JCS meets Northumberland Christian School today.

GOLF

Huskies compete at Rich Valley

MECHANICSBURG — Mifflin County golf had two individuals compete Monday at the Mid-Penn qualifier at Rich Valley Golf Course.

Evan Breon competed on the boys side and Emma Norman competed on the girls side. In order to advance out of the qualifier on the boys side, you needed to place in the top 10 overall players. In order to advance out of the qualifier on the girls side, you needed to shoot a score of 104 or better.

Any individual who accomplished this would advance to the Mid-Penn Championships on Thursday, at Range End Golf Course.

Evan Breon had a great day, shooting a score of 74, which placed in a tie for third place overall, and will advance him to the Mid-Penn Championships. He also made his first ever eagle at the event. Emma Norman shot a score of 106, just barely missing the cutline to advance to the Mid-Penn Championships. She has already qualified for the District 6 3A girls championships on Oct. 2 at Windber Country Club along with teammate Lily Breon.

Evan Breon will compete again today at Sinking Valley Country Club, along with Jude Zook, Chase Krepps, and Caleb Bubb at District 6 3A sectionals, which gives the boys an opportunity to earn their way into the district championships by placing in the top 10.

Tigers win 16 on the links

East Juniata golf finished the season with a 16-6 overall record. This qualifies EJ for the District 4 team championship at White Deer golf course next Wednesday.

This is also the qualifier for districts for anyone who hasn’t averaged an 88 or better during the regular season. If they shoot 88 or better at the qualifier, they are able to compete at the District 4 championship for individuals at Williamsport Country Club on Oct. 9. If they make the cut on the 9th, they compete on the second day which is Oct. 11.

VOLLEYBALL

WolfPack drops Tigers, 3-0

COCOLAMUS — East Juniata played St. Joe’s and lost in three sets on Monday, 14-25, 11-25, and 16-25.

Libby Hoffman, senior middle, had seven digs. Kennedy Seigler-Lewis, senior setter, had 14 digs.

Addi Dimm, senior outside hitter, had eight digs and four kills.

TENNIS

Thundering Herd top Huskies, 4-1

CARLISLE — Carlisle dropped Mifflin County tennis on Monday, 4-1.

In singles play, Maddy Clinard beat Herd’s Mia Pfisher, 6-4, 6-2. Emily Coombs defeated Husky Ava Kelly, 6-3, 6-1. Macie Murge topped Huskies’ Delaynie Newlen, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles play, Fata Mulaomerovic and Adina Dedic beat Huskies Alexis Allen and Gladrielle Leonard, 6-4, 6-2. Herd’s Edna Dedic and Sonoma Pham defeated Huskies Ellie Hartzler and Bailey Bishop, 6-2, 6-2.

GIRLS SOCCER

Tigers nudge Wildcats, 2-1

COCOLAMUS — East Juniata dropped Halifax on Monday during girls soccer, 2-1.

Makaylyn Peters and Kolby Stroup each posted a goal for the Tigers.

EJ had 15 shots on goal and six corners.

EJ goalie Landyn Cramer tallied five saves.

Halifax had 15 saves, four corners and six shots.

McKenna Peryea scored for Halifax.
