Greyhounds stump Huskies, 21-6

SHIPPENSBURG — Mifflin County football traveled to Veterans Memorial Field to take on the Greyhounds during a Friday night showdown in Week 5 and were defeated, 21-6.

Shippensburg led early and often and it all began on the opening drive where it took the Greyhounds 16 plays on 75 yards and a four-yard rushing touchdown from Jayden Hernandez to give Shippensburg an early 7-0 lead.

Shippensburg had 101 total yards on offense in the first half as the Greyhounds led 14-0 at halftime.

Mifflin County (2-3) started to find momentum late in the first half that would carry them into the second half on a pass from Joel Beamer where the Huskies ran 11 plays for 70 yards to get themselves on the board.

Mifflin County head coach Shane Breon said, “They made enough plays to keep the chains moving. We took a shot there and we saw something on film that we liked… I liked the way our guys played tonight. We are so close to beating good teams. Maybe we just need to focus and work harder and give a little more effort.”

Shippensburg would tally another score on a 25-yard touchdown from Mark Carothers to extend the lead, 21-6.

In Week 6, Mifflin County welcomes Palmyra at Donald M. Chapman Stadium for homecoming night.

Starting at $2.99/week.
