MECHANICSBURG – Dylan Norris won his first career 410 sprint car feature Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway. He earned $5,500.
“It has been tough,” he said. ‘Just to be able to finally do it makes all the long nights worth it. This is a brand new car tonight. It was really good and balanced.”
Tim Glatfelter led from the pole over Jeff Halligan for the first 15 laps before slower traffic bunched up the leaders.
Norris, who started sixth, raced by Halligan with 10 laps to go. Norris used an outside pass off the fourth turn to take the lead from Glatfelter with eight laps to go.
Halligan took second from Glatfelter and gained on Norris with five to go. They swapped the lead in turn four. Norris regained control. Freddie Rahemr was up to third from the ninth starting spot.
Norris pulled away over the final laps as Rahmer passed Halligan for second on the final lap. Tyler Ross and 16th starter Brock Zearfoss completed the top five. Glatfelter faded to sixth. Lance Dewease, Troy Wagaman Jr., Alex Attard, and Ryan Taylor rounded out the top 10.
Glatfelter won the opening heat race. Australian driver Attard won the second heat race and started second. Halligan won the final 410 heat race. He started third.
Ayden Hare, Derek Locke and Steve Owings won the heat races for the 358 sprint cars. Norris is the 358 sprint car point leader and won both features the last time the Grove raced a few weeks ago.
