LEWISTOWN — After years of preparation, construction and uncertainty, Kish Bank Field at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium, located near Mifflin County High School is now complete and ready to house all Mifflin County athletes and fans. While some sports teams have already begun to practice on the new fields, parents, supporters, friends and family have yet to experience what the new facility has to offer.

Not only is this the opening of Donald M. Chapman III Stadium, but also the unveiling of Lake Dealership scoreboard, Geisinger Field House, Standard Steel Press Box, Del and Rose Guerrini Concession Stand, Clayton Homes Concession Stand, Marcal Paper Field (located at the old Highland Park Elementary School), Fleet Reps Field House, and the Standard Steel Score Board (at Marcal Paper Field.) Other new additions include the Capouillez Baseball Field and the First Quality Softball Field which were lucky enough to be opened and played on during the 2025 spring season.

On Wednesday, the community had the opportunity to take it all in for themselves during a special open house. A chance to walk around the facility, ask questions and see the vision after it has fully come to life. After an overflow of support and patience from the community, there was a strong turnout at the open house.

Athletic Director Tish Maclay explained, “It’s just exciting to see the kids finally be able to be on it and enjoy it, and get the experience of it.”

This field and facility will not only benefit the student athletes of Mifflin County, but will also benefit the entire community in a way. Whether it’s parents with children on the teams, or community members who like to come watch the youth play, this facility was made with those people in mind.

Donald M. Chapman Stadium is complete with an artificial turf field, bleachers with a seating capacity of 4,270, a press box, video scoreboard, stadium lights, a parking lot that includes 67 spaces, paving, and lighting, two team rooms, two concession stands, two ticket booths, women’s and men’s restrooms, a family restroom, trainer’s room, custodial closet, mechanical room and a small store space.

Marcal Paper Field and Fleet Reps Field House comes fully equipped as well with artificial turf and an eight-lane track, bleachers seating 500, traditional scoreboard and stadium lights, parking lot that includes 103 parking spaces, two team rooms, equipment drying room, small concession stand, storage, one ticket booth, women’s and men’s restrooms, and a family restroom.

These new facilities are welcomed additions to the community. Many are excited for the opportunities these facilities hold, such as community member Bob Klinger who expressed, “I’m excited to see generation after generation be able to enjoy this. It’s pretty special and the time that they put in to get this to happen is amazing.”

Maclay agreed by stating, “I think it’s definitely a source of pride and it will continue to be a source of pride for generations to come. It’s a multi-sports facility, it’s a campus approach, you can check out multiple facilities from one location and I think a lot of people are super excited to be a part of that.”

If you missed the open house but are still looking forward to seeing the facilities, or you are a Mifflin County football fan, the first official event at Donald M. Chapman is Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. when the Huskies host Central Mountain under the brand new lights.
