LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County got out to a rapid start, drawing first blood en route to a 2-1 win to open their 2025 season on Tuesday.
The Huskies’ scoring began on a Jace Bagrosky goal to give the home squad an early 1-0 advantage seven minutes into the game.
The Rockets (1-2) would respond well with a goal of their own off the foot of Judah Starnes Nuzzolo to even the score 1-1 with 14:29 remaining in the first half.
Husky Jace Bagrosky said, “I mean honestly I’m excited how we came out. Didn’t score as many goals as we wanted to but we outplayed our opponent by a mile. I’m just happy we came out with the win in our first game.”
Bagrosky would score another goal in the second half on a penalty kick with the momentum shifting back to Mifflin County in the second half. The Huskies kept the ball on their opponent’s side of the field for the majority of the second half. Mifflin County also got good performances from Zach Keller, Dylan Liggett and RJ Miller.
Mifflin County head coach Keith Yoder said, “You know I am proud of the performance tonight. We definitely moved the ball effectively… We stress wanting to do it. We don’t play long balls. We want to connect passes and move the field of play and maybe next time put a few more goals in the back of the net but I’m proud of the effort tonight.”
Mifflin County (1-0) showed toughness and prevailed for the win over the Rockets in the Huskies’ season debut at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium.
