Dietz, Satterlee ready for more racing action
PORT ROYAL – After convincing wins at Port Royal Speedway Saturday
night, Chase Dietz and Gregg Satterlee are ready for the upcoming big
races in their respective divisions.
With lucrative payouts on the line, the sprint cars and late models
will have large, competitive fields over the final three weeks of the
season.
Satterlee, of Indiana, Pa., picked up his third late model win of the
season and hopes he has enough speed for this weekend’s “Rumble by the
River”, sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The
Saturday night finale pays $50,000 to win and Friday pays $10,000.
“They’re a good group of cars to race with and they’re really fast,”
Satterlee said. “We need all the speed we can get. I think we’re
pretty close. We’ll see how it plays out. Hopefully, we can put
together a good weekend.”
While Dietz and the sprint car teams will have the upcoming weekend
off, they return Aug. 30 for the Juniata County Fair opener and the
first of five sprint car races in eight days concluding with the
$58,000 to win Tuscarora 50 on Sept. 6.
“It has been a fun year, I feel like here in the middle of the year,
we’ve been struggling a little but also searching to get better,”
Dietz said. “Going out to Eldora and Knoxville certainly helped us.
We have our notes and we’re putting in our time. It has helped us
coming back home. I’m lucky to be involved with this team, very
fortunate to be here, this is the biggest win of my career. I feel
like if we continue like this the rest of the year, we’ll be tough to
beat.”
PORT ROYAL NOTES
York’s Rick Eckert is the late model point leader by 120 over Justin
Weaver and 185 over Colton Flinner. Eckert is a two-time winner this
season. Weaver and Flinner have three top five finishes in eight
races, but haven’t visited victory lane yet.
The UMP modifieds join the late models for both nights of the “Rumble
by the River” and the limited late models race Friday only.
Mifflintown’s Lane Snook has dominated limited late model racing this
season, including three Port Royal wins. He raced with the super late
model last weekend charging from the 18th starting spot to finish
eighth.
The sprint cars, late models and limited late models come back
together for the 171st Annual Juniata County Fair opener on Saturday,
August 30, for the Butch Renninger Memorial.
