Breon leads Huskies in Mid-Penn match
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County golf competed Tuesday at Lewistown Country Club as the Huskies hosted the Mid-Penn Keystone division match.
The Huskies went 0-6 on the day, losing to Palmyra, Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Red Land, Bishop McDevitt and Cedar Cliff.
MC was led on the day once again by Evan Breon who shot a season-low score of 79, which tied for fourth place overall. Chase Krepps chipped in with a 91 which placed in a tie for 26th overall. Jude Zook contributed with a 97, which placed in a tie for 40th, and Caleb Bubb rounded out the scoring with a 108 which placed 46th.
With the losses, MC now stands at 0-19 on the season, and 0-18 in the Mid-Penn Keystone division. The Huskies are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Lost Creek to play East Juniata.
Mustangs dodge Indians on the links
SHAMOKIN — Midd-West topped Shamokin during Tuesday’s golf match at Indian Hills, 202-214.
Westin Kuhns shot a 50 for Midd-West. Brady Gunkle added a 51, River Knepp 51, Calvin Beaver 50, Cole Musser 56, Gavin Berkheimer 53.
For Shamokin, Cru Schroyer had a 41, Nathan Erdman 51, Braxton Haupt 60, Braylyn Luberecki 62 and Mia Anderson 65.

Lions rout Columbia, 13-2
MCALISTERVILLE — Juniata Christian beat Columbia County Christian on Tuesday, 13-2.
Julian Flores De Valgez scored a hat-trick for JCS and Troy Hoover posted five goals with four coming in the opening half.
Columbia had one score per half in the road loss.
JCS’s overall record is 2-0.
Next JCS game is Friday at Dayspring Christian Academy.

Mustangs sweep Tigers, 3-0
MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West defeated East Juniata in Tuesday volleyball action, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17.
EJ’s Libby Hoffman, middle senior, had eight kills. Addison Dimm, outside senior, had 10 digs.
EJ hosts West Shore Thursday. Midd-West plays Juniata on the road today.

Millionaires roll in XC meet
MIFFLINBURG — Williamsport won a PHAC cross country meet on Tuesday.
Williamsport beat Mifflinburg, 15-47, and Midd-West, 15-50. Millionaires also dropped Warrior Run, 15-48. Wildcats topped the Mustangs, 8-13. The Defenders defeated Midd-West, 15-50.
For Midd-West, Liam Wagner placed sixth at 12:01. Williamsport’s Aaron Scholnick ran 10:44, good for first place.

Tigers down Indians, 5-1
COCOLAMUS — East Juniata defeated Millersburg on Monday in girls soccer action, 5-1.
EJ (1-0) posted four goals in the second half en route to the home win.
Briahna Brubaker and Cali Wagner each collected two goals. Makyla Coudriet added one score. She also had an assist. Makaylyn Peters and Aubrey Price each recorded an assist.
EJ tallied 21 shots on goal compared to the Indians’ 10 shots.
Landyn Cramer corralled eight saves for EJ. Millersburg had 13 saves. The visitors had two corner kicks and EJ had five.
On Thursday at 4:30, EJ visits Shikellamy for their first road game of the year. On Sept. 3, the Tigers face Line Mountain at home.
VOLLEYBALL
Hershey tops Huskies, 3-2
HERSHEY — Mifflin County volleyball lost to Hershey on Monday, 26-24, 12-25, 25-23, 21-25, 11-15.
The Huskies defense was led by Emily Porch and Amelia Green. Emmaleigh Harmon and Jamilee Gilbert each tallied four aces in the effort. Leah Hartzler led with three blocks and three kills.
The JV Huskies dropped the first set, 25-14, and then battled back to win the second set, 25-18. They dropped a tightly contested third set 14-16. Ayden Long and Briah Moore led the Huskies’ strong defensive effort in the match, tallying nine and five digs respectively. Jovi Bush had five kills while Lily Curry handed out four assists.
Mifflin County is back in action today at Mifflin County High School for their home opener against Carlisle. The JV match is set to start at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6:15 p.m.
