Barb Mowery inducted into Hall of Fame

MILROY — Barb Mowery, the wife of Lloyd ‘Sach’ Mowery, was recently inducted into the Pennsylvania Babe Ruth Hall of Fame.

Sach Mowery was involved in the Mifflin County league for 11 years, 1962-1973. After leaving the Mifflin County league, Mowery moved on to become a district, state and regional commissioner. When he gave up those positions, he returned to help the Mifflin County League and the Armagh Memorial Field run tournaments.

For years, Barb Mowery assisted her husband with running the tournaments and also helped do the paper work.

Barb Mowery becomes the 19th person from Mifflin County to reach the state’s Babe Ruth Hall of Fame. Mifflin County holds the record for most members.

The other couple is from Williamsport, Jim and Bonnie Winder. Jim and Bonnie are the key figures for West End, Williamsport. They joined Babe Ruth in 1983. Currently they are state commissioner (Jim) and secretary (Bonnie).
