Babe Ruth comes to an end

LEWISTOWN — All the Babe Ruth World Series are over for the 2025 season. Mifflin County lost to all three Mid-Atlantic champions.

Williamsport’s West End lost in the national finals (15-16-year-olds) to the host team, Branson, Missouri, 5-3.

It marked the 13th time in the 71-year history of the league that a Mifflin County team has eventually lost to a national champion or national runner-up. Mifflin County has lost to the national champion seven times.

There was a celebration of life for the late Gary Stimely of McVeytown on August 15, at the Armagh Memorial Field. One statistic on Gary that should not be overlooked. Gary was one of just three men to be president of a Babe Ruth league in Pennsylvania that won a national title. Mifflin County won the 13-year-old national title in 2016. The other national winners were Levittown (13-year-olds) and Broomall-Newtown, which won two in 2014, 13 and 15-year-olds.

Brody Keefer, a 13-year-old, scored Mifflin County’s lone run in the last All-Star game in Old Bridge, New Jersey, a 7-1 loss to Southern New Jersey. It was Mifflin County’s 8,900th run. Mifflin County needs 100 runs to get 9,000 next summer. Landon Eichhorn scored Mifflin County’s 8,000th run in Altoona in 2019 in the Mid-Atlantic 13-year-old Regional tournament.
