Macri’s streak continues at BAPS
Anthony Macri’s hot streak continued Wednesday night at BAPS Motor Speedway as the King’s Royal Champion defeated the World of Outlaws in the 30-lap sprint car feature.
He made history by becoming the first driver to beat the Outlaws at four central Pennsylvania tracks, including Williams Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal and BAPS.
Last weekend, Macri earned $200,000 in claiming the King’s Royal crown at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
The 25-year-old from Dillsburg hopes to keep rolling during the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway this weekend. Tonight’s finale pays $20,000 to win. Macri beat the Outlaws at the Grove in May for the Morgan Cup.
Earlier this month, Macri earned his third straight Pennsylvania Speedweek championship. He’s won three races this season at both Williams Grove and Port Royal, along with two victories at Lincoln.
Since veteran crew chief Joe Mooney joined the team, Macri has become a consistent contender no matter what track the 39M rolls into. Last year, Macri won races in MIssouri and South Dakota.
A busy weekend for the sprint cars concludes Sunday night at Selinsgrove Speedway with the Opperman/Bogar/Heintzelman Memorial paying $10,099 to win. Racing starts at 7.
Port Royal Speedway returns to action next weekend, Aug. 2, with sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and limited late models.
The Friday night portion of the Summer Nationals was rained out.
