60 years of fun, laughs, adventures at Millbrook Playhouse

It’s been a great 60 years for Millbrook Playhouse. Sure, there have been ups and downs. A non-profit professional stock theatre, like most nonprofits, experiences its share of struggles.

The pandemic didn’t help, for sure. But here we are in 2023 and this vaunted venue that brings so much joy and entertainment to our area — attracting people from all over the country — has just launched its newest season with the opening of “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” on the Ryan Main Stage.

Congratulations also to Shannon Agnew, Millbrook’s new producing artistic director. Organized as a non-profit corporation in 1963, Millbrook Playhouse is a traditional summer stock theatre with two stages, a 235-seat Main Stage theatre and a 100-seat Cabaret Theatre.

The Main Stage season consists of various large-scale musicals or plays. The Cabaret Theatre season consists of various smaller plays or smaller musicals. Millbrook also produces a successful Educational Theatre Program, which includes a spring play and summer shows (June-August) well as a summer camp for kids, teens and adults.

The playhouse is situated at 258 Country Club Lane outside of Mill Hall, in a historic 1850-

era barn. It is supported by various sources, but primarily by ticket buyers. You can check out this season’s robust lineup online at www.millbrookplayhouse.org.

Or send an email to info@millbrookplayhouse.org or call 570-748-8083. Yes, Millbrook is making history this year. History for all who cherish live performances in our rural little hamlet of the world.
