You don’t need to be in a relationship to appreciate Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is generally seen as a day for lovers, so it’s understandable why some may not look favorably on it.
But if you’re alone today, don’t use it as an excuse to retreat.
There are different kinds of love and plenty of ways to show it that are not romantic.
Think back to those friends from high school who you’ve grown away from over the years.
We’re sure they would appreciate a “just because” card or an unsolicited letter in the mail.
That personal handwritten touch means so much more than a Facebook comment.
Don’t text, CALL your parents. Remind them how much you appreciate the sacrifices they made for you.
Show love to your local economy by supporting small businesses.
Go a little out of your way to purchase local chocolates and patronize one of the Juniata River Valley’s florists instead of running into convenience stores at the last minute.
When you’re gifting local goodies to your neighbor, surprise them with a knock on the door and a smile on your face.
If you can’t spare the expense, donate an hour of your time.
Play Scrabble with your elderly neighbor who is also spending the day alone.
Got a post-it pad?
Write a thoughtful note for your co-worker.
Self love is important, too!
Enjoy a spa day at home.
Take a bubble bath.
Give yourself a pedicure.
Watch your favorite movie.
Take a personal day and prop your feet up in those fuzzy slippers.
Whatever makes you happy.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just for lovers. There are plenty of ways you can spread love and cheer without a significant other.
Seize the day.
