Joan G. Soccio

Joan G. Soccio, 96, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Celebration Villa of Reedsville.

Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Neelyton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Flood) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rocco Soccio, as well as her three sisters and three brothers, being the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Joan is lovingly remembered by her sons, Stephen Soccio and his wife, Diane, of Lewistown, and Mark Soccio and his wife, Cindy, of Greensburg. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Zachary and his wife, Katie; Nicole and her husband, Josh; and Scott and Eric, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Maddison, Elizabeth, and Asher.

A proud graduate of the Lewistown Hospital Nursing Program, Joan dedicated her life to the care of others as a registered nurse at Lewistown Hospital. Over the course of a remarkable 40-year career, she touched countless lives before her retirement.

Joan was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lewistown and had previously been active in the 20th Century Club. She found great joy in tending to her flower gardens, but above all, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Chaplain Ben Wagenknecht officiating. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Juniata Memorial Park.

Joan’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Celebration Villa of Reedsville, and Bristol Hospice for the compassionate and exceptional care she received during her time there.
