Geraldine (Geri) H. Deavor

Geraldine (Geri) H. Deavor, 94, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of those who knew and cherished her. Born on Nov. 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lorma M. Kurtz and Milo A. Hudson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Renyold “Dutch” Deavor, on Dec. 9, 2018; her sister, Betty Zaccone; her brothers, Wilbur, Leroy, and Richard Hudson and grandson Brian Ferguson.

She is survived by her younger brother, Ray (Peggy) Hudson of Harrisburg; daughter, Sheree (Thomas) Gibbons of Blue Bell; her granddaughter, Morgan Wiezbicki of Jacksonville, Fla.; her stepdaughter, Nan (Tyde) Ferguson of Reedsville, PA and grandson Greg (Mandi) Ferguson of Milroy.

Geri lived a long and meaningful life marked by strength, service, faith, and devotion to others.

A 1950 graduate of Burnham High School, Geri proudly served her country in the Women’s Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. She attained the rank of Sergeant and was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Her time in the military reflected her deep sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism–qualities that remained with her throughout her life.

Following her military service, she was employed at the First National Bank of Lewistown for 20 years and later at Marlin Fields Real Estate for another 20 years, retiring in 2006.

A woman of deep faith, Geraldine was a devoted lifelong member of Burnham Church of the Brethren. She was actively involved in church life, singing in the choir, participating in Ladies Fellowship, and serving faithfully on the church board. Her faith guided her actions and was a source of strength and inspiration to those around her.

Geri also found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, her home, family, friends and camping. She and Dutch married in July 1967 and celebrated 51 years together before his death. They loved to travel but one of their most cherished traditions was spending two weeks each year at the Jersey Shore, creating lasting memories with family, enjoying the beauty of the ocean, and taking evening walks along the boardwalk. Later in life, after they stopped traveling, they maintained a permanent site at Gray Squirrel Campground.

She will be remembered for her resilience, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Geraldine was a natural caregiver who touched the lives of many through her generosity, warmth, and quiet strength. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 East Freedom Avenue, Burnham, PA followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jonathan Boyer officiating.

Interment with military honors will take place after the service at Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.

Joseph A. Fluehr III of New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donate in her memory to the Dementia Society of America.
