Charles J. Vogt

Charles J. Vogt, 81, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Geisinger- Lewistown Hospital.

Born on May 13, 1944 in Altoona, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Marie G. (Aurand) Vogt. On Nov. 27, 1965, he married Wendy E. (Mary) Vogt, who survives at their home.

Surviving are children: Sharon E. Wyland and husband Todd of Belleville, Andrew J. Vogt and wife, Cheryl Vogt, of Reedsville, James E. Vogt and wife, Kelly Benson-Vogt of Purcellville, VA, Mary K. Vogt, and husband, Lucas Zimmerman, of State College, Michael C. Vogt and wife, Kirsten Vogt, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren: Kaden Knouse, Madelyn Knouse, Marissa Wyland, Nicollette Wyland, Brandon J. Vogt, Bailey R. Vogt, Riley J. Vogt, Cyrus Zimmerman, Sebastian Zimmerman; 6 great-grandchildren: Cohen J. Vogt, Avery M. Vogt, Bentlee J. Vogt, Oaklynn J. Vogt, Jensen and Hayley Shore; siblings Diane Boettger, his twin brother, Paul Vogt and wife Brenda, Chris Vogt and Beth Vogt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Vogt.

Charles served in the National Guard for two years. He graduated from Penn State; he and his wife owned and operated R. S. Vogt Garment Factory in Allensville; he was Human Resource Manager at Allensville Planing Mill; following retirement from the Allensville Planinng Mill, he was a truck driver for Boring Transport, then for PAK Transport, lastly he then drove school bus. He also served as a supervisor for Menno Township

Charles was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Lewistown, where he served as a handyman for the church; served on the Parish Council, as well as many other positions at the church. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus where he received Knight of the Year.

He enjoyed fishing, going camping with family and friends and attending sales. He had a love for music, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2026 at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 state Route 655, Reedsville.

There will be a funeral Mass held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Lewistown. Burial will be held at the Juniata Memorial Park.
