Theresa M. McCardle

Theresa M. McCardle, 69, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Born on Oct. 20, 1956, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Bender and Marie (Ricciardi) Bender, who survives.

In addition to her mother, Theresa is lovingly remembered by her children: Vladimir Blazanin and his wife, Jordan, of Altoona; Nicholas Blazanin and his wife, Doris, of Spring, Texas; Timothy McCardle of State College; and Kimberly Yoder and her husband, Ronny, of Lewistown. Theresa was also a proud grandmother to Palmer, Wrenley, and Harper, of Lewistown. She is also survived by her siblings: Patricia Fleegal and her husband, Michael, of Lewistown; Eugene Bender Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Florida; Mary Sterrett and her husband, Robert, of Siglerville; William Bender and his wife, Linda, of New York; Peter Bender and his wife, Priscilla, of New Jersey; Elizabeth Hartley and her husband, Kim, of Yeagertown; Joanna McElwain and her husband, Kevin, of New Lancaster Valley; Stephen Bender and his wife, Mehanne, of Lewistown; and Stephanie Bender, of Lewistown.

Theresa was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. For more than 20 years, she dedicated her professional life to serving individuals with disabilities and special needs. Throughout her career, she worked in many compassionate roles with Skills of Central PA, UCP, and most recently, NuVisions. Theresa also enjoyed spending time volunteering at Saint Vincent de Paul in Lewistown.

Above all, Theresa treasured her role as “Mimi.” Time spent with her grandchildren was her greatest joy, and she embraced every moment with love, warmth, and unwavering devotion.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father Kevin Coyle officiating.

Interment will follow at Juniata Memorial Park.
