Rose E. Parks

Rose E. Parks, 85, of Burnham, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2026 at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Born on March 8, 1941, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary E. (Pagenta) Varner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William A. Witters; second husband, Luther F. Parks; stepdaughter, Cindy Vaughn; and her siblings, Stewart, Shirley, John, Robert, and Bruce Varner.

She is survived by her children, Sue (Pecht) and husband, Cliff Zook, of Burnham, Rick Witters, of Lewistown; stepdaughter, Linda Ericson, of Chambersburg; grandson, Justin Pecht and wife, Lindsay, of Lewistown; great-grandchildren, Kane and Eden Pecht, of Lewistown, Michele Beecher, of Chambersburg; and a sister, Jeanette Bernion, of Vale, N.C.

Rose worked as a waitress for over 50 years at various restaurants in the area, including Reds Diner, Royale Dairy, Burnham OIP, Heston Inn, CVR Restaurant, Hoagies N More, and Sticky Bun. She retired at the age of 79.

She always greeted her customers with a smile and genuinely cared about their families. Rose was a kind and caring individual who went above and beyond for her customers, and she was dearly loved by many.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Ave., Burnham.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Union Cemetery.
