Louis B. Sonnenberg
Louis B. Sonnenberg, 91, of Lewistown, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on June 27, 1934, in Hanover Township, he was the son of the late Louis A. and Ann (Mikus) Sonnenberg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean D. (Long) Sonnenberg, and his sister, Arline Evans.
Louis is lovingly remembered by his sons, Bryan Sonnenberg and his wife, Candy, of Orbisonia, and Brett Sonnenberg and his companion, Robin Dixon, of Clearfield. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren; Jacob, Remington, and Declan, whom he adored beyond measure and who were truly the center of his world. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Pascoe of Hanover Township, and his brother, Joseph Sonnenberg and his wife, June, of Florida.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army, a reflection of the quiet strength and dedication that characterized his life.
A proud graduate of the Philadelphia School of Pharmacy, Louis devoted his professional life to serving others as a pharmacist. He began his career with Rea & Derrick Drugs and People’s Drug before retiring from CVS in 2008. Deeply passionate about his work, he found great fulfillment not only in caring for his community but also in the lasting relationships he built with those he served.
A man of steadfast faith, Louis was a devoted member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewistown and an active member of Lewistown Lodge No. 203, Free and Accepted Masons.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Allen Hulslander officiating. Interment will follow at Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Louis’ memory may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
