Linda Yeager Rice Wiedenmann passed away peacefully in Lake City, Florida on Jan. 28, 2026. During her extended illness and up until the very end, Linda maintained her remarkable love of life, her quick wit, and her deep devotion to family and friends.
Linda was born in Lewistown on Aug. 26, 1939, and grew up in Reedsville. She was the last surviving child of Ethel Sweigart Rice and George Clifford Rice. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Marcia Swartzell, George Clifford Rice, and Natalie Bryant. She attended Penn Hall and, following her high school graduation, continued her education at a junior college.
After completing her studies, Linda moved to New York City, where she worked for Young and Rubicam. It was in New York that she met the love of her life, John “Jack” F. Wiedenmann. They were married in 1975 and shared a devoted and joyful marriage until Jack’s passing in 1999.
Linda is survived by her children: Susan Del Guercio, Scott Wiedenmann, Karen Wiedenmann, Becca (Craig) Kinard, and John (Erin) Wiedenmann. She was the cherished “Nana” of seven grandchildren and the adored “Aunt Linda” to her nephews, their wives and her nieces.
Linda’s life was marked by lifelong friendships, and kindheartedness toward everyone she encountered, including animals. She possessed an outrageous, unforgettable sense of humor and had the ability to make everyone feel special. Her smile was infectious and lit up every room she entered.
She will always be remembered for her profound love of family, history, and tradition. Her legacy of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
