Carol J. Rothrock
Carol J. Rothrock, 88, of Lewistown, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Valley View Haven Nursing Home.
Born April 6, 1937, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late William W. Walls, Sr. and Esther G. (Mentzer).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles V. Rothrock, whom she married on Oct. 13, 1956; her infant daughter, Tammy Jo; her grandson, Shane C. Smeltz; and her brother, William W. Walls Jr.
Carol leaves behind a beautiful legacy of family and faith. She is survived by her children: Douglas Rothrock and his wife Leah, of Lewistown; Cheryl Smeltz and her husband Rick, of Lewistown; Debra Peachey and her husband Kent, of Carlisle; and Laurie Espigh and her husband Tracy, of York.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Benjamin Rothrock and his wife, Madelyn; Zachary Rothrock and his wife, Tara; Meredith Godby and her husband, Kyle; Seth Smeltz and his wife, Emilie; Dakoda “Kody” Smeltz and his wife, Kristen; Thaddeus Peachey; Trevor Peachey and his wife, Abigail; Megan Hower and her husband, Corey; Alicia Erickson and her husband, Scott; and Kayla Brown and her husband, Danny.
Her joy was multiplied in her cherished role as great-grandmother to Hudson, Emmett, Hadley, Brodie, Olivia, Charlotte, Jackson, Teddy, Audrey, Beckam, Hallie, Bryson, Tucker, Camden, Paisley, Oaklynn, and Brooks.
She is also survived by her sister, Judy Hudgins, of Oxford, A.L.; her brother, Gary Walls, of Lewistown; and her brother-in-law, Sheldon Rothrock, of Enola.
A graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1955, Carol devoted her life to serving others. She served as a teacher’s aide at Lewistown Christian Academy and worked part-time at Lewistown Bottling/Pepsi Company. Above all, she cherished the many years she spent babysitting her treasured grandchildren.
Carol was a devoted member of Lewistown Alliance Church, where she faithfully served for many years as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and deaconess. She was also a proud “Lioness” with the Lewistown Lion’s Club.
She found joy in flower gardening, was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, and an exceptional cook and baker. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and steadfast kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Lewistown Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Avenue, Lewistown, with Pastors Bill Miller and John Looney officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will follow in Juniata Memorial Park.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
