Virginia B. ‘Sis’ Colyer

Born on July 24, 1936 in Thompsontown, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late John E. Zeigler and Isabella (McNaughton) Zeigler.

On April 24, 1954, she married her late husband, John W. Colyer Sr., with whom she was blessed to share over 32 years of marriage before his passing on Aug. 16, 1986.

She is survived by her children, Lisa G. Woodward and husband, Donald, of McAlisterville, John W. Colyer Jr., of McAlisterville, Rickey E. Colyer and his wife, Lonnie, of Richfield, Bobbie J. Coudriet and her husband, John D. Jr., of McAlisterville, and Scott A. Colyer, of McAlisterville; 10 grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Isaac of Carlisle, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua Colyer; and one sister, Bertha Zeigler.

Mrs. Colyer was Methodist by faith and was employed and retired after over 20 years of service to Empire Kosher, Inc. in Mifflintown.

Sis enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching and caring for all the generations in her family, playing cards, crocheting, cats, and watching baseball, especially the Dodgers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc. 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Wes Stahl officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m on Tuesday at the funeral home.
