Eugene N. Worthy Sr.

Eugene N. Worhty Sr. 78, Mount Union died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 5, 2026, and he now walks with the Lord.

Born May 14, 1947, in Orbisonia son of the late Roy and Eva (Varner) Worthy. Eugene was united in marriage to the former Devera Elder. Mrs. Worthy survives at home.

Eugene is also survived by children Eugene (Beth) Worthy Jr., of Orbisonia, Paula Sebers, of Carlisle, Robert (Vickie) Varner, of McConnellsburg, Jerry (Mary) Varner, of McVeytown, Delana States, of McConnellsburg; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Eugene was one of 12 siblings, only one brother, Tom Worthy survives.

During Eugene’s lifetime he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during Vietnam and then earned an Honorable discharge. He then pursued a career at New Enterprise as a Crane Operator. Eugene was also a life member of the Mount Union VFW and American Legion. In Eugene’s free time he was often found camping, cooking, and baking cakes for his children and adored spending time with his friends and family.

In honor of Eugene, a memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
