Doris V. ‘Dorie’ Longwell

Born on April 5, 1934, in Milroy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Knepp) Collins. On May 28, 1955, she married Lee E. Longwell, who preceded her in death on April 12, 2011.

Surviving is a daughter: Sharon I. Esh and husband, Michael B., of Reedsville; two grandchildren: Rebecca L. Esh and partner, Chad A. Sager, of Lancaster; Olivia M. Radziak and spouse, Gary J., of Norwood, Pa.; two great-grandchildren: Noah and Micah Radziak; and a sister: Eleanor Kibe, of Reedsville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson: Nicholas B. Esh; siblings: James Collins, Eugene Collins, Margaret Aitkins, and Isabelle Aitkin.

She graduated from Armagh-Brown High School. She worked hard at home and at her job. She was a waitress at G.C. Murphy’s for more tha 30 years.

She was a very devoted caregiver to her husband, mother, and family throughout her life.

Dorie will always be remembered for her warm laugh. She enjoyed sitting on the patio, chatting with friends, as they admired her flowers and watched the birds.

She assisted the Milroy Fire Company for a number of years with fundraising. She loved playing games, taking rides in the mountain and country music. Her greatest joy was spending time with and cooking for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
