Ronald E. Hook

Ronald E. Hook of Crystal River, Fla., died at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 at Vitas, Lecanto, Fla.

He was born Dec. 16, 1948, in Lewistown to the son of late Elwood Hook and Verna Clinger Hook Shilling. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Frank Shilling, sister Sonja Hardy, stepbrother Barry Shilling, of Yeagertown and Jim Stever, of Calif. He married Pamela Henry Hook, of Milroy, Pa., whom survives and currently resides in Crystal River, Fla. One daughter survives, Christine Hook Hammond along with her husband, Matthew and their children, Matthew and Christopher, of Citrus Springs, Fla.

He retired from Mifflin County School District in 2001, previously worked at Viscose Manage Tool Company, and Standard Steel. He served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1968-71 as an Air Force Sergeant E-4 and in 1970 him along with his fellow Lewistown High School schoolmates met for Christmas in DeNang, Vietnam so far away from home. He was known as Daddy, Pappy, Hookie, and a friend to all.

Services will be held on Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
