James L. Peters Sr.

He was born on June 13, 1942, in Reedsville, to the late James A. and Betty E. (Brininger) Peters. On Nov. 20, 1964, he married Carole A. Peters, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2023.

Surviving are children: Cheryl E. Vogt and husband, Andy, Barbara Jo Watson and companion, Larry Hoover, James L. Peters Jr. and wife, Krissy, all of Reedsville; four grandchildren: Brittney Rose, Tyler Watson and companion, Maura Horning, Kaitlyn Stern, Brandon Vogt, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Ayden, Harper, Adleigh, Cohen, Avery, Bentlee and Oaklynn. He is also survived by his special neighbors, Jeff and Missy.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Peters, and an infant sister.

He was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, he then served in the U.S. Army for four years (1960-1964). He retired after 30+ years of service at the Standard Steel.

James was a member of the Lewistown Moose. He coached youth baseball for a number of years and was also very involved in the Kish Band Boosters.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, spending time at camp, sitting on his porch and getting together with his family. He very much enjoyed going out to dinner with his family and he also enjoyed Sunday breakfast with the girls at the Honey Creek Inn.

He was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church.

A viewing will be held at the Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 SR 655, Reedsville, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Cathy Dawes officiating. Burial will be at the Church Hill Cemetery.
