George (Jake) Bender Jr.

He was born on May 26, 1940, in Lewistown, the son of George and Naomi (Colyer) Bender. He is survived by his children Christene Wileman, of Florida, Sheryl Bender, of Lewistown, Philip Bender and wife Charity, of Ohio, Paul Bender, of Lewistown. Surviving sisters, Rae Anna Freed and Geraldine Shilling, of Lewistown; Jake had 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand children. George was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Trudy (Metzger) Bender, son John Bender, and grandson Joshua Bender. Brothers and sisters Donald Bender, Georgia Chapman, Gloria Bender, Thomas Bender, Richard (Dick) Bender, Walter Bender, Samuel Bender, Mae Huffanagle, Clair Bender and Madeline Graham. George worked as a roofer all of his life until retirement. He loved hunting deer and turkey. And spending time with family. He was always willing to help anyone he could with anything they needed for free. He will be greatly missed by many.

There will be a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at the Lewistown Salvation Army Corp. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects. The service begins at 5 p.m. which will be followed by a meal.
