Jonathan C. Swarey

He was born on Oct. 19, 1942, in Lewistown, to the late David and Rebecca (Zook) Swarey.

Surviving are his children: Reuben K. Swarey and wife, Fannie, of Mill Creek, David J. Swarey and wife, Mary, of Beaver, O.H., Jonathan L. Swarey and wife Esther of Allensville, Jacob L. Swarey and wife, Linda, of Allensville, Lydia A. Detweiler and husband, Jesse, of Allensville, Benuel J. Swarey and wife, Susan, of King Man Ind., Rudy L. Swarey and wife, Julia, of Mill Creek, Katie L. Yoder and husband, Norman, of Belleville, Sara E. Peachey and husband, Elmer, of Canajoharie, N.Y., Esther M. Byler and husband, Joseph, of Allensville; 65 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren; siblings: Katie J. Peachey, Susie E. Peachey and husband, Jonas, Lydia A. Yoder and husband, Jonas, David I. Swarey and wife, Katie, John F. Swarey and wife, Ruth, Henry S. Swarey and wife, Mary, Samuel Y. Swarey and wife, Linda, Rebecca L. Byler and husband, Rudy, and Steven L. Swarey and wife, Linda; sisters-in-law: Rachel Swarey, Lavina Swarey, and Susan Swarey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie A. (Kanagy) Swarey, a son, Joseph J. Swarey, six grandchildren; brothers: Christ, Isaac B., Jacob, and a brother-in-law: Sylvanus.

He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

A viewing was held on Sunday at his residence. His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 at his residence. The home ministers will officiate. Burial will take place at the Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
