Joe F. Norman
Joe, our Pa and husband, passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2025 after a brief illness.
He was born on June 25, 1935 to George and Ruth (Freed) Norman.
After graduating from Beaver Vocational High School in 1953, Pa went on to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree at Penn State University. His first job was at Standard Steel, where he worked for 34 years in various positions before retiring in 1991.
In 1960, he married Patricia Deppen who survives. They built a wonderful life together and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 30 of this year.
Pa was a lifetime resident of Beavertown and served the community in many ways, including Mayor, Borough Council, and Planning Commission. He also participated on Church Councils and loved singing in the choir. He was a member of the Middleburg Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the United States Army.
Throughout his life, Pa was known for creative problem solving, being a great cook (famous for his Tickie Stickies), having a witty sense of humor, and being the boss. He always made time for family and supported us.
In retirement, Pa enjoyed traveling with Mom throughout the United States and overseas. Some of his favorite trips were to Alaska, Germany, PSU bowl games, and Fall leaf-peeping. He was an avid gardener and landscaper, and especially delighted in sharing his “surprise lilies” with others.
He is survived by his three children, Jodi Norman (Scott Moyer), Brett Norman (Alecia) and Shawn Norman (Beth); a grandson, Derek Norman (Jessica); two granddaughters, Megan Benjamin (Andrew) and Ashley Kelsey (Dave); three great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Diane Norman; his four-legged buddies Remi and Kacy; as well as friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Friends and family are invited to help us celebrate Pa’s life on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown. A masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Bergerson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in our Pa’s name.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Pa’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
