James R. Williams

James R. Williams, 81, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Geisinger Hospital – Lewistown.

Born May 25, 1944, in New Bethlehem, he was the son of the late James R. Murphy and Eva (Williams) Polliard and stepfather Malcolm Polliard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Candace Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Yeater) Williams; children, Dee King of Lewistown and Chris Williams and wife, Bethany of McClure; grandchildren, Rachel King and companion, Zack Fischer, Daniel King and companion, Hailey Rhodes, Skyler Williams, Miranda Williams, Skyler Hagan and Geromiah Miller; great-grandchildren Marley and Hunter Williams, Oakley Williams and Arabelle Condrack; and siblings, Letha Breon and husband, Jay, of Milroy and Leah Shafranich of Milroy.

James was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School and later joined the U.S. Army.

He served as a dedicated employee at Standard Steel for more than four decades.

James enjoyed spending his time watching NASCAR and Sprint Car races, riding motorcycles, fishing, and camping. He was also a regular at auctions. In addition, during his younger days, he participated in scuba diving.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Ave., Burnham, with funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.
