Darlington ‘Paul’ Benn

He was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Milroy, the son of Darlington McCluney and Elizabeth Mae (Hostetler) Benn.

Paul graduated from Armagh Brown High School, Class of 1956. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (AD) later seeing action in the Vietnam War. He met his wife Cheryl Gower while serving in Corpus Christi, Texas. Paul retired after 20 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother Walter Benn, sister Patricia Benn (Fultz) and brother David Benn. Paul is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son Ronald Benn and wife Sheri of Fremont, Calif., daughter Cheryl Guilford, son Chad Benn and wife Cindy of Denver, Colo., and daughter Cynthia Benn (Beadle) and husband Doug of Harrisburg; he had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also survived by brother, Roy Benn and wife, Roberta of Belleville, and sisters-in-law, Darla Benn of Milroy and Jackie Benn of Phoenix, Ariz.

Paul’s life was rooted in faith and family. A devoted Christian, he lived with grace, gratitude, and compassion. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, bringing happiness to everyday moments.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Carolyn’s House Hospice for the loving care and compassion they provided to Paul in his final days.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel of Carlisle 1453 Holly Pike, Carlisle, PA 17015. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville, PA.
