Walter J. Nale

Born Aug. 23, 1946, at home in Brown Township, he was the son of the late Grant W. Nale and Faye A. (Fultz) Nale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charlotte Hope Nale; father and mother- in-law Roy W. Kauffman and wife, Elie G.

Walter leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Deborah (Kauffman) Nale; children Michelle Beaver and husband, Matthew, of McAlisterville, Douglas Nale and wife, Jennifer, of South Lyon, Michigan; grand- children; Allison Beaver and fiancÈ Thomas Hunter, Carly Beaver and fiancÈ William Keenan, Griffin Nale, Gracelyn Nale; brother William Nale and wife, Hazel of McAlisterville.

He was a graduate of the Kishacoquillas High School class of 1964.

Walter honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where his bravery and dedication were recognized with the awarding of the Purple Heart. He remained actively involved in supporting fellow veterans as a proud member of the Purple Heart Association.

He was a 32nd Scottish Rite Mason at Union Lodge 324 in Mifflintown. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion of Mifflintown, National Rifle Association and the North American Fishing Club.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Berrus officiating.

Interment will be held at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown, with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
