Ronald L. Himes

Ronald L. Himes, 83, of Reedsville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born on Sept. 4, 1942, in Turtle Creek, he was the son of the late Lewis H. and Mary E. (Bosley) Himes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Natalie S. Himes.
On June 22, 1968, Ron married the love of his life, Deborah A. (Carter) Himes, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love and devotion, raising their daughter, Christine A. Walker and her husband, Kevin, of Reedsville. Ron’s greatest joy came from his treasured grandchildren, Keenan M. Walker and wife, Taya, and Ryan C. Walker and his fiancÈe, Emilee Stine, who were the pride of his heart. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie R. Givler of Lewistown.
Ron graduated from Lewistown High School in 1960, Wyoming Seminary in 1962, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Albright College in 1966.
His career reflected both hard work and a heart for service. Ron began his professional journey as a teacher at Rothrock High School, where his patience and care for students first shone through. He later served as Director of Public Relations at Lewistown Hospital, using his skills to build meaningful connections within the community. Following that, he became the proud owner and operator of Himes 322 Service Center in Reedsville, where his dedication and work ethic were evident each day. Ultimately, he returned to his true passion– education–serving as a special needs teacher with the Mifflin County School District until his retirement, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and commitment to others.
Above all, Ron loved his family with his whole heart. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will continue to live on through the love he poured into his family and community.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
