Iva L. Yoder

Iva L. Yoder, 95, of Belleville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 at Valley View Haven Nursing Home.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1930, in Huntingdon County, to the late G. Elrose and Ruth (Kauffman) Yoder.

Surviving is a sister: Effie Spicher and husband, David, of Belleville; nieces and nephews: Janette Petersheim and husband, Sam, Jolene Byler and husband, Jeff, Suzanne Byler and husband, Elwood, Keith Spicher and wife, Gina, Kent Spicher, Laurie Whyte and husband, Tom, Kevin Headings and wife, Dawn; 12 great-nieces; four great-nephews; and 23 great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Headings, brother-in-law, Richard Headings, and a niece, Stacey (Kauffman) Spicher.

Iva graduated from Allensville High School in 1947, then Huntingdon High School in 1948. She then attended Juniata College and graduated in 1952. She taught at William Smith School in Huntingdon area for 33 years.

She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, audio books and a live reader. She loved the company of her cats and enjoyed being in the outdoors. She shared her love of reading by gifting books and magazine subscriptions to her nieces, nephews and extended family. She enjoyed the care and companionship of sisters, nieces, nephews friends, neighbors, church family and a special reader.

Iva was affiliated with Allensville Mennonite Church and Otelia Mennonite Church, where she also taught Sunday school class. She was a member of Barrville Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for a time. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Big Valley Thrift & Gift and doing newsletters for Crossroads Pregnancy Center.

She is a former member of the Retired Teachers Association in Huntingdon.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Burial will take place at the Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
