Charlotte Jeanne (Kauffman) Romig
Charlotte Jeanne (Kauffman) Romig, 78, of Milroy, passed away on Sept. 24, 2025, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1947 in Lewistown, to the late Ted Kauffman and Leah (Swanger) Kauffman Hervey. On June 19, 1963, she married William E. Romig, who survives at their home.
Along with her husband, she is survived by children: Lori J. Romig Hollett and husband, Glenn, of North Pole, Alaska, William S. Romig of Fairbanks, Alaska, Cindy Howard and husband, Tony, of North Pole, Alaska; nine grandchildren: Michael Hollett and wife, Brendy, Jason Hollett and wife, Karisa Etter, Christopher Hollett and wife, Kirstain, Joshua Hollett and wife, Josie, Abigayl Growden and husband, Colton, Hailee Romig, William D. Romig and fiance’, Haylee Sanders, Victoria Day and husband, Michael, Andrew Howard; 17 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, David and Jonathon Hollett, Bryce and Monty Etter, Topanga, Reagan, Gracie and Cody Hollett, Silver, Harrison and Violet Hollett, Zayden Growden, Ophelia Romig, Juniper Romig, Wesley and Hannah Howard.; siblings: Susan Kauffman and husband, Ken Johnson and their children: Don Osborne, Jacqueline Weir-Simmons, and Genne Jo Penelerick, Trudy and husband, David Merriman and their son Joshua; and a sister-in-law, Joan Romig, of Milroy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Guy Kauffman, Ellen Kauffman and Steven Kauffman
She attended Chief Logan High School. She completed her degree in Elementary Education at University of Alaska, Fairbanks. She received her master’s degree in Special Education from Bloomsburg University. She taught school in Fairbanks, and had a mail route in North Pole, Alaska and in Arizona.
In 1981, her husband was called into ministry and their family relocated to Alaska for 28 years. Jeanne served alongside her husband in the ministry until her death.
She was a member of the Paintersville CMA Church. She was actively involved in the women’s group WMPF at church. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Jeanne enjoyed sewing and has made all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren quilts that they still cherish every day. She loved to read and loved having tea with her friends and sharing her love for Jesus with everyone.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Paintersville CMA Church, 3195 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, PA 17044, with Pastor Sherman Stoltzfus officiating. Dinner will be provided following the service.
Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Milroy.
