Nancy L. Goss

Nancy L. Goss, 83, of Milroy, passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown.

She was born on July 26, 1942, in Newton Hamilton, to the late Elwood H. Buchanan, Sr. and Betty L. (Collanbine) Buchanan. On July 13, 1960, she married Wilson A. Goss, Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2020.

Surviving are children: Sonieta L. Harrop and husband, Ernest, Paula S. Goss, Charlene J. Wagner and husband, Alan, Loraine M. Goss, Denise J. Kenawell and husband, Marc, all of Milroy, Dennis J. Goss and wife, Mynthia Cabrera Goss, of Petersburg; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way; siblings: Edna Violando and husband, Patrick, of Hastings, N.Y., Raymond Buchanan, of Syracuse, N.Y., Connie Yorkey and companion, Wayne Drake, of Syracuse, N.Y., Shirley Shurowicz and husband, Robert, of Syracuse, N.Y., Ken Buchanan and wife, Joanne Cramer-Buchanan, of Ga., Edward Buchanan and wife, Theresa, of Hastings, N.Y., brothers-in-law: John Mecurio, of North Syracuse, N.Y., Robert L. Goss and wife, Donna, of McVeytown, John Goss and wife, Ida, of Decatur.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Elwood Buchanan Jr. and sister Kathy Mecurio.

Nancy graduated from Lewistown High School in 1960. She was a homemaker until 1974, when she went to work at Lewistown Sportswear, Arrow Shirt Factory, The Blind Foundation, Brandywine, and retired from JDM Manufacturing.

As a youth, she attended Spring Run Church of the Brethren and was baptized there. After she was married, she and her husband attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Siglerville, where she was active in Sunday school, served as the Sunday school secretary and sang in the choir.

She was a member of Siglerville Grange, a member of the Mifflin County Youth Fair Open Show Committee.

She enjoyed making quilts for all her grandchildren. Nancy was a wonderful cook and loved making dozens of cookies and candy at Christmas and Easter time.

She was always very supportive of her children and grandchildren. She was known for her sassy sense of humor and will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1368 Siglerville Pike, Milroy, with Pastor Joy Kaufmann and Vicar Ruth Ann Kephart officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery, Milroy.
