Frances Martin

Frances Martin, known to her family as “Toots,” passed away peacefully into heaven in Virginia Beach, Va. on Aug. 5, 2025.

Frances was born and raised in Lewistown. She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1961. After graduation Frances married her high school sweetheart and was a loving and supportive military spouse, mother, and grandmother. She made many sacrifices in support of her family and held multiple and diverse occupations while accompanying her military spouse during numerous relocations to various Army bases across the world. Her most lasting and fulfilling occupation prior to retirement was that of a Delta Airlines baggage handler in Augusta, Ga.

In her retirement and later years, Frances enjoyed travelling and spending time with friends and family. She especially liked attending live events and going to the movies. Her fondness for the Hallmark channel was well known and she watched it religiously. Most of all, she treasured being “Maw Maw” to her three grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her for her kindness, her gentleness, her smile, her laugh, her sense of humor, her love of music and her devotion to her lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol Seoane (husband David); her son, Ronald Martin (wife Tyana); three grandchildren, Jared Martin, Jayden Martin and Brandon Seoane; her sister, Nina Wagner; her niece, Cathy Yohn; and her nephews, David Wagner and Douglas Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Sausman McNitt; her father, Percy Sausman; husband, Ronald Martin; and nephew, Daniel Wagner.

Frances’ family would like to acknowledge and thank the following Virginia Beach organizations for their service as well as support and assistance in caring for Frances in recent years: Home Instead, M.E.
