Darlene A. Stine

Darlene A. Stine, 78, of Richfield passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on Oct. 14, 1946, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Milford L. and Anna Mae I. (Shea) Stine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Stuck Jr.; grandson, Thomas Shoemaker Jr.; granddaughter, Chantel Worley; siblings, Linda M. Gary E., Gerald J., and Terry Stine.

She is survived by a companion, Earl M. Fike; she was a brave and courageous single mother of her six children, Rose M. Dietz (Carl), of Lewistown, Tami L. Shoemaker (Dennys Navedo-Lopez), of Reading, Angela L. Forshey, of Lewistown, Christine M. Forshey, of Lewistown, Frank Forshey Jr., of Mifflintown, Scott A. Forshey (Shirley), of Lewistown; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry A. Stine, of Mifflin, Shirley A. Sattler, of Lewistown, Nancy L. Miller (John), Lewistown, Lynn M. Stine, of Lewistown, and Annette Fortune.

She was a member of United Church of Christ in Richfield.

Darlene was a 1965 graduate of Lewistown High School.

She worked at New Holland where she retired after 19 years of service.

Darlene contributed to several charities, including St. Jude, Native American, and U.S. veterans’ organizations. For approximately 10 years, she and Earl organized a Chinese auction at the Lewistown Moose Club for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raising a total of over $40,000. The annual event was a fun time attended by family and friends. In their final auction, about $3,000 was raised for Lewistown Shelter Services. After retiring, she volunteered at the thrift shop for several years. Her kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.

She enjoyed bingo, visiting casinos, and taking travel tours around the state and country. She loved annual Stine family reunions and making deviled eggs.

A receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tammy Gessner officiating.
