Gwendolyn Joy ‘Gwen’ Kauffman

Gwendolyn Joy “Gwen” Kauffman, 81, of Brookline Manor, formerly of Belleville, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1943, in Belleville, to the late Robert and Marjorie (Young) Snook. On Oct. 17, 1964, she married Kenneth L. “Ken” Kauffman, who survives at their home.

Along with her husband, she is survived by children, Kimberly A. Yoder and husband, Jeffrey of Belleville, Todd L. Kauffman and wife, Lorie of McVeytown, and Holly D. Byler and husband, Eugene of Allensville; two grandchildren, Morgan A. Miller and husband, Kenneth of Lewistown and Griffin T. Byler of Belleville; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Miller. She is also survived by her dog, Susie, who faithfully visited her every day at Brookline.

Gwen graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1961. She worked as a secretary for the PA Farm Bureau and also for Agway and D.K. Hostetler’s. She then waitressed at the Belleville Livestock Market and the Charolais Restaurant for a number of years.

She was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church and a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday school class.

She loved camping with her family in Potter County. She also enjoyed reading, doing sudoku puzzles, playing bingo, shopping and cooking. Gwen loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Gwen’s family would like to thank the staff at Brookline and the nurses on the 400 hall at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for the excellent care they gave to her.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, with Pastor Herb Zook officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.
