John R. Himes

Born July 7, 1948, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John R. Himes Sr. and B. Helen (Colyer) Himes.

John is survived by a sister, Karen C. Junk, of Honey Grove; niece, Traci Fowler and husband, Shawn, nephew, Michael Junk and wife, Buffie, both of Honey Grove, great nieces and nephews, Rachael Clark, Carl Fowler, Luke Fowler, and Adalynn Junk; great- great-nieces and nephews, Raelynn, Gia, and Gryffin Clark.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Junk.

He was a member of Samuels Church.

John was a graduate of West Snyder High School, Class of 1966.

Earlier in life he worked for Fisher’s Electronics and then after graduation from flight school in Oklahoma he worked for Henry Garbrick flying out of Reedsville, then became a co-pilot for Standard Steel.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Caleb Burd officiating.

Interment will take place at Samuels Cemetery.
